Who we are
This site is operated by COS Digital Ltd (“COS Digital”, “we”, “us”). We are the data controller for personal data collected through this website. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at hello@cosdigital.co.uk.
What we collect
We only collect what we need:
- Enquiries. When you use our contact or project-planner forms, we collect the details you provide (such as your name, email, phone and message) so we can respond. These are sent to us by email via our email provider (Resend).
- Analytics. If you consent, we collect anonymous, aggregated statistics about how the site is used (see below). This never includes your name or contact details.
Cookies
A cookie is a small file stored on your device. We keep them to a minimum. No non-essential cookies are set until you agree to them via our cookie banner — analytics are switched off by default.
| Cookie / technology | Purpose | Category | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| cos-consent | Remembers your cookie choices (stored in your browser, not sent to us). | Strictly necessary | Until cleared |
| cos-theme | Remembers your light/dark theme preference (stored in your browser). | Strictly necessary | Until cleared |
| _ga, _ga_<id> | Google Analytics 4 — distinguishes anonymous visitors and sessions. | Analytics (consent) | Up to 2 years |
Strictly-necessary items are stored in your browser’s local storage rather than as tracking cookies, and are required for the site to work. They don’t identify you.
Analytics & Google Consent Mode
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful and how people find us, so we can improve. We run it with Google Consent Mode v2: before you make a choice, all analytics and advertising signals are set to “denied”, so no analytics cookies are stored. If you accept analytics, Google sets the cookies above; IP addresses are handled by Google in an anonymised form. We do not sell your data or use it for cross-site advertising.
Your choices
You’re in control. You can accept or reject cookies when you first visit, and change your mind at any time:
You can also clear cookies through your browser settings. Rejecting analytics won’t affect how the site works.
How we share data
We don’t sell your data. We use a small number of trusted processors to run the site and respond to you: Google (Analytics), Resend (form email delivery), Vercel (hosting) and Sanity (content management). Each processes data on our instructions under their own data-protection terms.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the personal data we hold about you, and to object to processing or withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email hello@cosdigital.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Data retention
Enquiry emails are kept for as long as needed to deal with your request and for our legitimate business records, then deleted. Analytics data is retained for up to 14 months in Google Analytics.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes to how we use cookies, we’ll ask for your consent again. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
